Legal and Ethical Harvesting
It’s not just about finding lobsters—it’s about knowing which ones you can take. We’ll show you how to:
- Identify lobsters that must be released, including egg-bearing females and V-notched top breeders
- Understand the legal size requirements and how to accurately measure a lobster using a gauge
- Spot the differences between male and female lobsters
Safe and Responsible Extraction
Extracting a lobster isn’t just about grabbing and pulling. You’ll learn proper techniques to remove lobsters from their shelters safely and smoothly, reducing stress to the animal and risk to yourself. We’ll also cover the essential tools and storage methods you’ll need to keep your catch in top condition.
A Hands-On, Respectful Approach to Foraging
Our courses are rooted in sustainability and respect for marine life. By the end of the session, you’ll not only be capable of catching your own lobster, you’ll also understand your responsibility as a forager to help protect the delicate balance of our coastal ecosystems.
This is more than a course – it’s a connection to nature, a chance to learn valuable skills, and an unforgettable coastal adventure.
Equipment
If you haven’t already purchased your own spearfishing equipment, we can provide you with all the kit, except neoprene socks and gloves, for just £30. Unfortunately surf/standard style wetsuits are not sufficient and will result in you getting too cold and likely also damaging the neoprene of your wetsuit. If you need to rent our equipment, which includes a spearfishing wetsuit, simply add this option to your basket at checkout for only £30 extra.
